HOVERINGHAM WI
The elegant surroundings of Woodborough Hall were the setting for our Doverbeck Group meeting on 24 April, arranged by our own President Diane Yates The theme was ‘Easy Entertaining Ideas’ and we enjoyed a fascinating and delicious cookery demonstration given by Teresa Bovey and her assistant, Ali, followed by the opportunity to taste the finished products - irresistible! There were plenty of handy tips along the way and this was a great opportunity to see an expert brandishing a range of kitchen gadgets! Teresa was also keen to deliver some important messages including food safety, teaching young people to cook and enjoy healthy food, and being mindful of ‘food miles’ - though with ingredients sourced locally from Gonalston Farm Shop we could nibble asparagus and sausages with a clear conscience!

The business of the Annual General Meeting included a discussion of the Conference Resolution expressing concern about the closure of Community Hospitals led by Mrs Joan French. Food for thought on conflicts between national health care policy and local care was followed by …more food and wine, shared by members!
